Well the countdown is officially over.

It is just gone midnight and I have just arrived home from the last day of envelope stuffing, never-ending re-prints and security seal after security seal.

I know that I should be tired and should want to just fall into bed and never wake up, however I am still wired and cannot stop the thoughts tumbling around - the most prominent one being "Oh crap, please don't let me have forgotten something!!".

For those of you who are unaware - the poultry conference I have been working on starts on Sunday and by next Thursday, will all be over (well for me anyways).

I hope all will run smoothly, however a few hiccups are expected, I just hope nothing runs totally afowl!!

Sorry just couldn't resist! Cool

The weekend before last was supposed to be a great weekend for several reasons:

  • The International Rugby Union Season commenced
  • I was finally going to pick up my long-awaited-for washing machine

It still was a great weekend

  • We won against Ireland (not very convincingly but it was still a win and the first for newly appointed coach Robbie Deans (but that is a whole other blog)).
  • I got to hang out and relax with SWMBO, Flotoonie and the menagerie, which is always a favourite of mine.
  • I did pick up my washing machine and it is fantastic (and better yet Flotoonie set the whole thing up for me, so all I had to do was turn it on - muchos gracias)

In general the weekend was fantastic right up until 1pm when I arrived home to discover that some LOSER had sideswiped my car! So much damage has been done that I can no longer open the passenger side door on the drivers side.

What I find incredible is not so much that someone hit my car (I have long had a fear of parking on the street, for this very reason), it was the fact that no details, no note, no apology was even left in the vicinity of my car.

A friend of mine, recently told me that an inner city courier driver had his photo taken and published in the City News - to shame him for hitting someone's car and then driving off, leaving no details. My friend said "If only you could do that"

Yes if only....

Check back soon for more details and photos of my crusade to catch the 'bastard'.

Farewell Drinks PDF Print E-mail

A couple of weeks ago, I attended a farewell drinks evening with my not so new colleagues from my not so new (anymore) work.

It was a fun-filled evening which began with quiet drinks at work and then continued into Chinatown.

I must admit, I was definitely looking forward to the night out and also to having a few drinks, as I don't often get the opportunity to do so.

I was very shocked when buying my drinks for the night at just how much pre-mixed drinks or 'alco-pops' as the term supposedly, is had gone up. I knew of course that the new laws would push the price up, however the reality is ridiculous.

My question is: why do we all have to suffer because the 'juvies' wrecked it for everyone else?????????

Anyway back to the fun of the evening - What could be better than good food (Asian of course), great company and some drinky-poo's? Photographic evidence of course!!!!

As readers will know, I forgot my camera during my travels to the holy grail last night. To this end, several jibes were made in regards to the night not being able to be captured on film.

The masses are wrong - thanks to Chatty, I did in fact have a camera to capture as Flotoonie put it "The Spanking".

The Three Amigo's ventured forth into the damp wet night to Suncorp Stadium to witness the 2008 battle.

The theme for the evening was the 'supposed' red army

pitted against the sorely outnumbered Waratahs (due to the game being played on the Red's home soil)

As we all know by now, the Waratahs won in what was an interrupted game. The phases did not flow freely and errors were evident in both teams. The Tah's prevailed against the hordes of Red's supporters and have now secured a home semi-final and I wish them all luck in their search for their maiden title.

In addition to the match last night, several greats of the game were farewelled. Perhaps the two most notable were Chris Latham and David Croft.

Cheers Fella's and all the best!

Sour Grapes PDF Print E-mail

Sour Grapes: it is an ailment that has struck down all members of the Feral Possum clan, except I.

The explanation for this disease is quite simple: they didn't get what they wanted.

Childish isn't it??

Individuality is supposed to be a revered quality, however in this case it is looked upon in disgust.

To all my critics I say:

"May the best man or should I say team win"

Oh wait..... they did.

Congratulations

Waratahs
